Christopher Polvoorde Repeats as Champion at the 2025 King of the Hammers Toyo Tires Desert Challenge
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA – Christopher Polvoorde and Toyo Tires® have won the 2025 King of the Hammers Toyo Tires Desert Challenge. Repeating his dominant performance from last year, Polvoorde secured the back-to-back win, starting off his 2025 campaign on top of the podium. This year’s victory marks Toyo’s fourth overall win in this race, with past champions including Polvoorde (2024) and Bryce Menzies (2020, 2021).
Held in Johnson Valley, California, this race is one of the most grueling and demanding one-day off-road challenges in motorsports. Spanning approximately 325 miles of brutal terrain, it pushes both drivers and their vehicles to the limit, combining treacherous rocky sections with high-speed stretches for the ultimate test of skill and endurance.
Polvoorde and his 1,000 horsepower #94 Optima Batteries Ford Raptor qualified first on Saturday morning, clocking in the fastest lap at 5 minutes and 2 seconds. Relying on proven Toyo® Open Country M/T®-R tires, Polvoorde outpaced the competition on Sunday’s race, setting a winning time of 5 hours, 0 minutes, and 30 seconds.
“It was a perfect day of racing, something we didn’t expect on such a tough course,” said Christopher Polvoorde. “We faced jagged rocks through tight canyons, followed by extremely high-speed terrain. The fact that we had zero flats is a true testament to Toyo Tires.”
